Frequently Asked Questions.

How do I get started with therapy?

Beginning the process of therapy is often a daunting experience. It doesn’t need to be though! There are a few ways to begin the process. It could be as simple as calling or email our team and asking us to give you a call or some information over email about when the next available appointment is. A common first step is to see a GP (doctor) about a referral to a psychologist (called a Mental Health Treatment Plan). By providing the GP with our contact details, they can send the referral straight to us, or you can email it through if you have a copy.

What is the cost?

Each session is $225. Without a referral this will need to be paid for by you, however with a referral from your GP (doctor) you will receive a rebate from Medicare of $136.35 which means the personal cost to you is $88.65. Some private health insurances cover psychologist appointments as well. For this you will need to pay the full cost and then claim it back through your provider.

How long will I need therapy for?

Every person and every concern is different. Some people attend only a few appointments, while others may more need sessions. A Mental Health Treatment Plan (referral from your GP) provides rebates for 10 sessions in a year.

What if I can’t afford it?

We do not want money to be a barrier to getting the help you need. If you are in a tricky financial situation, please get in touch and we can discuss options for a reduced rate.

What is better access to mental health?

Better access to mental health is the federal government’s initiative through Medicare to reduce the cost of psychological therapy. With a referral from a GP (doctor) and a treatment plan you are eligible to Medicare rebates which significantly reduce the out-of-pocket cost.
